A cynical radio DJ inadvertently causes a tragedy, which throws his life into disarray. Three years later, he seeks redemption by helping a homeless man who was traumatised by the same tragedy. Terry Gilliam's weird and wonderful fantasy comedy drama was scripted by Richard LaGravenese. The story is highly original, very funny, and incredibly moving. It features a few unforgettable scenes, such as the waltz at the Grand Central Station or the heartbreaking discussion on the sidewalk between Plummer and Williams. The performances are all brilliant, but Mercedes Ruehl was singled out for an Academy Award.
