Oil City Confidential
Director: Julien Temple

This documentary tells the story of Dr. Feelgood and their birthplace, Canvey Island, a peculiar corner of England in the Thames estuary. In the mid-1970s they were one of the leading pub rock bands who lived the dream for a brief moment, only to throw it all away through substance abuse and artistic differences. This is a terribly familiar story and the band’s music doesn’t exactly stand out, but Julien Temple manages to keep you engrossed with his unique visual style which combines interviews with old gangster film footage.
