Benigno and Marco, a nurse and a travel writer, respectively, form an unlikely friendship while they care for two women, a bull fighter and a dancer, who are both in coma. Pedro Almodóvar's moving and unsettling drama about love, loneliness, and obsession moves smoothly from lighter moments to its disturbing dramatic climax. The performances are solid and the film looks great, as expected. An Academy Award winner for best original screenplay.
