Although he was disowned at birth, Becket Redfellow discovers that he is still one of the heirs to the massive family fortune. He sets out to eliminate the relatives standing between him and the money. John Patton Ford's dark comedy joins a long line of recent works about the excesses and unpleasantness of rich people. These include Triangle of Sadness, Blink Twice, Opus, and Mountainhead. This one was inspired by the delightful Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949), an Ealing comedy best remembered for Alec Guinness portraying eight different members of the same family. Unfortunately Ford's film never gets the comedic tone right and the result is mostly cringe-inducing. Recently, Glen Powell and Margaret Qualley have both been stuck playing more or less then same character in every new release.
