In 1977, Tony Kiritsis, a financially desperate man, holds a mortgage company executive captive with a shotgun connected to a wire trigger, which leads to a tense standoff with police, negotiators, and the media. Gus Van Sant's captivating hostage drama is based on a true story, and comparisons to Dog Day Afternoon (1975) are therefore inevitable. As a film, it does not reach the same heights, but Bill Skarsgård and Dacre Montgomery both deliver strong performances.
