On the first day of the alien invasion, a terminally ill woman who has nothing left to lose except her cat, and an English law student, are among the survivors who find themselves stranded in Manhattan. I imagined that the prequel to A Quiet Place would shed some light on how everyone discovered that the blind aliens rely on their hypersensitive hearing. Unfortunately, Michael Sarnoski's horror film skips over this part and instead follows another pair of survivors through predictable jump scares and the same quiet and deliberately paced set pieces. The first ten minutes of A Quiet Place Part II already showed how it all began, so I fail to see why we need this film at all?
