Frank White, a ruthless but principled career criminal, is released from prison. He returns to New York City to reclaim his empire and help his community, but a group of rogue cops are determined to take him down by any means necessary. In the years and decades after its release, Abel Ferrara's gangster movie has gained cult following. This is not at par with something like Goodfellas, which came out the same year, but it is a stylish, cool, entertaining, and occasionally silly genre piece. Christopher Walken and Laurence Fishburne give memorable performances.
