In the early 1960s, a restless and unconventional single mother and her two daughters settle down in a small town in Massachusetts. 15-year-old Charlotte dreams of saintliness but falls in love with a 26-year-old man. This coming-of-age drama comedy is based on Patty Dann's 1986 novel. It tells a sympathetic, familiar, and occasionally creepy story about a teenage girl who is looking for herself. The performances are breezy and likeable.
