In Paris, a young and naive man falls for a spirited prostitute named Irma. In order to have her exclusively for himself, he assumes a disguise as a wealthy Englishman. Billy Wilder's romantic comedy reunites the stars of The Apartment. There are some nice comedy set pieces, but this awkward and overlong farce is nowhere near the level of his 1960 masterpiece. Based on a 1956 French stage musical by Marguerite Monnot and Alexandre Breffort.
