The night before a highly important concrete pour in Birmingham, construction manager Ivan Locke embarks on a life-changing drive towards London. Very much like Buried (2010), Steven Knight's drama features a single character with a phone who is stuck in a confined setting, this time not in a coffin but inside a car. The rest of the cast only appear as voices. Although Locke's personal and professional life unravels in front of our eyes over the course of the night, the events, or lack thereof, do not translate to a particularly tense or gripping film. Tom Hardy is at the centre of it all with his controlled performance.
