The Producers
Director: Mel Brooks
Cast: Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder, Kenneth Mars, Lee Meredith, Estelle Winwood, Christopher Hewett

Two losers devise a foolproof plan to make money. They sell shares to wealthy elderly ladies to produce a play that is a guaranteed flop. The worst play they can find is a tasteless Nazi musical called “Springtime for Hitler”. Mel Brooks stays behind the camera in his directorial debut, which won him an Oscar for best screenplay. It’s a nasty and hilarious comedy which has stood the test of time, apart from Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder’s noisy performances. It was later turned into a Broadway musical, which was then remade into a film in 2005.
