Six people are gathered in a Vermont house country house: Lane, who is recovering from a suicide attempt, her best friend Stephanie, Lane’s outspoken mother Diane, Diane’s husband Lloyd, and two neighbours — Peter, a struggling writer, and Howard, a French teacher. As a storm approaches, romantic tensions, unspoken desires, and long-buried resentments rise to the surface. Woody Allen's modest chamber drama was inspired by Anton Chekhov’s plays, particularly Uncle Vanya. He recast and reshot the entire the film, but was still not happy with the result. This is a short and static one-room drama that doesn't offer much beyond its nice performances.
