After his activist girlfriend dumps him, bumbling and apathetic New Yorker Fielding Mellish travels to (the fictional Latin American country of) San Marcos to win her back, but inadvertently gets entangled in a revolution. Woody Allen's third feature is a very funny but loosely plotted comedy. The film does satirise the absurdity of revolutionary politics, but it mostly concentrates on churning out gags.
