Once Upon a Time in America
Director: Sergio Leone
Cast: Robert De Niro, James Woods, Tuesday Weld, Elizabeth McGovern

Sergio Leone’s final film is a long, ambitious and stunning gangster saga that covers a time span of over 40 years in its four hour running time. Thematically the story deals with memories, and once it’s over you’re not sure whether you can trust the memories of this particular protagonist. The film contains not one but two rapes, which are hard to stomach, but they do make sense in the big picture. With first class cinematography, production design and Ennio Morricone’s music you really feel like you’re watching a true work of art.
