During the Great Depression, George and Lennie find work on a ranch in California. Lennie is physically strong but mentally disabled, and repeatedly gets them into trouble. Gary Sinise's directorial debut is a well-acted and beautifully filmed adaptation of John Steinbeck's 1937 novella, which explores loneliness and dreams of a better life. John Malkovich delivers a very impressive performance as Lennie.
