In the early 1900s, gambler John McCabe opens a brothel in the mining town of Presbyterian Church with the help of the savvy, opium-addicted Mrs. Miller. Problems arise when a powerful mining company wants to buy them out. Robert Altman's thoroughly original and atmospheric anti-western doesn't feature glamorous heroes riding into sunset.
