Rachel finds apparent happiness with Mark as they marry and start a family, but their relationship begins to unravel when his infidelity comes to light. Mike Nichols' romantic drama boasts a terrific cast, yet this story about love and trust meanders aimlessly from one moment to the next. Whether it's the wedding jitters, renovation troubles, Mark's musical interlude, or Rachel's realisation of his affair, all these scenes would benefit from tighter focus. Nora Ephron's screenplay is based on her 1983 novel, itself inspired by her own marriage.
