Din Djarin and Grogu embark on a new mission for the New Republic. They are tasked with rescuing Rotta the Hutt, the son of the late Jabba the Hutt, in exchange for valuable information. The third season of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian wrapped up in April 2023, and the sad truth is that this spin-off film feels entirely unnecessary. We don't learn anything about the two main characters that we didn't already know, and the story doesn't take them anywhere new. This is a one-off adventure, mostly targeted at small children, which adheres to the formula J.J. Abrams established in The Rise of Skywalker: Din Djarin and Grogu travel to X to find Z in order to find out where Y is. Jon Favreau stages some decent action set pieces, but the film outstays its welcome at 132 minutes.
