Dewey Cox, a boy from Alabama, becomes a musical icon who must endure numerous marriages, substance abuse, flops and comebacks, and evolving musical styles, all while being haunted by childhood trauma. This terrific comedy, written by Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan, satirises the clichés of musical biopics like Ray and Walk the Line, and parodies different genres as Cox’s fictional career intersects with real-life artists and events. John C. Reilly is adorable in the lead.
