One night at 2:17 a.m, all but one child from Mrs. Gandy’s third-grade class walk out into the dark and vanish. The mystery sends the community into shock, and we see the events unfold from different perspectives — the teacher, grieving parents, the remaining child, police, and others. Zach Cregger's follow-up to the mediocre Barbarian is a terrific, darkly comic horror movie that kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. It moves seamlessly from creepy scares to goofy comedy to moving dramatic moments. The performances are all great, but Amy Madigan's creepy and hilarious turn was singled out for an Academy Award.
