A group of young space colonists aim to scavenge an abandoned space station, but discover Weyland-Yutani's sinister experiments with Alien DNA. The seventh installment in the franchise, which is set sometime between the first two, fails to introduce a single original idea. Once again, a female heroine leads a group of disposable and suitably credulous supporting characters in a hopeless fight that includes encounters with facehuggers and chestbursters, a trip into the hive, and a scene where the protagonist comes face to face with the Xenomorph. Rather than introducing fresh ideas, Fede Álvarez relies on cheap fan service by resurrecting a character from Alien and recycling dialogue from Aliens.
