The world in the near future is dominated by technology. After Grey Trace loses his wife in a mugging that leaves him quadriplegic, a tech innovator offers to restore his mobility with an experimental AI implant. Leigh Whannell's second feature is a grim science fiction movie with some cool action scenes. Unfortunately, the script is unoriginal and ultimately dumb, and the visual look is drab. The performances are by and large awful. Grey becomes a man of action who battles and talks with himself, a description that would also fit Venom, which incidentally came out the same year.
