In the early 1990s, a psychically skilled FBI agent Lee Harker investigates a mysterious serial killer known as Longlegs, who appears to possess family patriarchs to kill their own families. This supernatural crime procedural starts well, like a creepier version of The Silence of the Lambs, as Lee hides a personal connection to Longlegs. The disappointing and occasionally silly second half features Satan worshipping, creepy dolls, murderous nuns, and other horror tropes. The performances are good and it's all atmospherically shot, so much so that Osgood Perkins' world doesn't appear to have one propely lit room.
