Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, the famous gangster, attempts to build a casino in Las Vegas while balancing a tempestuous extramarital affair with actress Virginia Hill. Barry Levinson's biographical drama was written by James Toback. The film is well made and historically interesting, but never becomes adequately captivating. Warren Beatty is not the best choice for the lead, but Annette Bebing delivers a terrific breakthrough performance. An Academy Award winner for best art direction and costume design.
