28 weeks after the outbreak of the Rage Virus, a cowardly man who left his wife for dead is reunited with his kids in London, which is now infection-free and occupied by U.S. troops. When the virus inevitably breaks out again, all of the above becomes irrelevant as the film turns into a formulaic survival story. Although Juan Carlos Fresnadillo's incredibly gory and frantically edited horror film has some scary, powerful, and thought-provoking moments, it remains a rather ordinary sequel that largely retells the story of 28 Days Later and leaves the ending open for more. Followed by 28 Years Later.
