Two horny teenagers set off on a road trip across rural Mexico with a beautiful older Spanish woman. Their swagger and sexual posturing slowly give way to vulnerability, and the boys are changed forever. Alfonso Cuarón's sexually explicit road movie delivers a moving coming-of-age story, and the narrator places this personal journey within a broader social and political context in a Mexico which is at a turning point. The performances are excellent, even if I can't really relate to these characters.
