Robert Altman returns to the stylistic exercise of his influential Nashville with another tapestry of intertwining lives, this time set in Los Angeles. The film is wonderfully crafted, but all of its stories are not captivating, so it feels a bit long at three hours. The cast is amazing, however. Adapted from Robert Carver's short stories.
