After being bitten, a horny young man is forced to join a group of violent vampires. While he eventually comes to accept their brutal lifestyle, he feels compelled to protect his own family from the bloodthirsty gang. Although Kathryn Bigelow's cult film offers an original mix of horror and Western elements, I didn't care for it in the late 1980s, and the additional 30+ years haven't done it any favours. The end product is dull, clunky, and stupid. The vampires always seem to be taken by surprise that the sun rises in the morning. Bill Paxton gives a terrible performance.
